Many entrepreneurs are motivated to work for themselves full-time by necessity, not just a gentle push from the universe. As in Katy’s case, the results of the first challenge and uncertainty are often worth it.
Katy Widrick is a funnel fixer for high-growth entrepreneurs. She recovers the largest expense in their business — lost sales — using simple and effective systems that increase conversions while decreasing top-of-funnel expenses.
Katy is an EMMY nominated journalist and multi-media producer. She has been working in marketing and revenue growth for over 20 years. She strategizes and implements profit-first funnels to help visionary leaders maximize impact, increase their top-line revenues, and scale up their product and services lines to seven-, eight-, and nine-figures.
Katy became a member of SPI’s All-Access Pass on March 20, 2023. It was a pivotal moment in her career.
“Push Off a Cliff”.
Katy describes how she made her entrepreneurial leap.
“In November 2021 I abruptly and unexpectedly ended the corporate career. I had been a member on the executive team of a fast-growing firm for three years. It was a great experience, but it left me feeling burned out, uncertain, and unsure of my next step.
“I took a break from my job, and a few months later, I received a notification that I would be losing my job… I felt like I was being pushed over a cliff, instead of leaping.”
Katy said that she needed the push to “build wings as she went down.”
Katy returned to the workforce between November 2021 and February 2023 as a self-employed woman. She founded Make Media Over in which she provided online business management, marketing via email, and funnel design.
Katy thought that when she closed Make Media Over and pursued her corporate career it was for good.
“I never thought I’d return to entrepreneurship. “I dismantled my business — I shut down the website, let my software subscriptions expire, informed all my clients of my absence, and embraced the corporate experience,” Katy told SPI.
Katy’s corporate career did not pan out. So, she turned to her LLC. Katy’s LLC was still in operation, so she decided to return to self-employment and set some bold, ambitious goals.
All-Acess Pass: A Bold Move
Katy made a bold decision after 14 months. Katy decided to invest in SPI’s All-Access Pass to empower herself and build her skills, and to grow her business.
“I joined to take advantage of the Podcasting Pathway. I had started my podcast in those 14 months. It was fun, but it wasn’t what I wanted to offer my audience. Pat Flynn is the only teacher I would trust. I knew that investment was worth it just for this pathway.
Katy was podcasting and blogging under the name “Rising Tide Talents”, a reference to her motto that a rising sea lifts all ships. Her solo-hosted podcast episodes focused on leadership and marketing funnels.
It was a good start but not the show she envisioned. All-Access Pass provided her with the clarity and confidence she needed to pivot her podcast, and make the most of the other resources in AAP.

“I decided that I would make a significant shift in everything, from the format of my show to the platform on which it was hosted. After I used the guides from All-Access Pass to map it out, I felt an immediate sense of purpose and alignment. When I first interviewed a Hard Costs founder, I felt magic. Since then, I’ve made improvement after improvement: I optimized my podcast for advertising, took the email marketing course and grew my listenership.
Part Mastermind, part MBA, and part Accountability Group
Katy is a master at helping others see their blind spots while she relies on the All-Access Pass to help her with her own.
What’s the saying? What’s that saying? It’s true: I am terrible at what I do for myself. “Being a part of All-Acess Pass, the community, has been part MBA, part mastermind and part accountability group. I am so grateful for my membership.”
