Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 was leaked numerous times over the past few months, as the launch date of the next generation foldable device is expected to be in July. One of the last remaining questions has been answered with a twist.
Geekbench, the reliable benchmarking site, has published details on the foldables’ core specifications. The site will automatically publish any device that runs the benchmarking process. Geekbench has a long-standing tradition of displaying pre-release devices.
In the listing for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the model number is SM-F956U. It also states that this handset is carrier-locked. The listing confirms that the handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Gen 3 chipset and has 12 GB RAM.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 scored 1,943 for the single-core benchmark, which is nearly identical. Multi-core score is 6,619, compared to 5,123 for the older model. Expect CPU-intensive tasks.
Although this is only a single point of data, Samsung supporters will be pleased to see that the Snapdragon chipset was used. Both the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 were equipped with a mixture of Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets depending on where they were sold. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, a premium model, shipped with the Snapdragon chipet.
Knowing that there is at least one Snapdragon-powered model in the Z Fold range will calm many.
This is a 12 GB memory variant. Samsung offers 12 GB of memory, which is the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. While this may be sufficient for the time being, demand for memory will increase in the coming years. This will keep the cost of materials down, but may lead to problems in the future as software puts more demands on hardware.
Samsung will hold a Galaxy Unpacked in Paris, ahead of the Summer Olympic Games. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 along with the Z Flip 6 fitness tracker and Galaxy Ring are expected to be launched.
