Three workers and the owner of a New Hampshire child care facility are now facing charges for adding melatonin to the food they served children.
The Manchester Police Department announced that Sally Dreckmann (52), the owner of the daycare, and her employees Traci innie (51) Kaitlin filardo (23) and Jessica Foster (23) all from Manchester were each charged with ten counts of endangering a child’s welfare.
The authorities said that the daycare in-house sprinkled melatonin on children’s meals without their parents’ knowledge.
According to Mayo Clinic, melatonin can be used as a sleep aid and is safe for short-term use.
Heather Hamel, a Manchester Police Department spokesperson, told WDHD that the drug is available over-the counter and can be used as a sleeping aid. However, the fact that it was given to children against their parents’ will or without their consent, was very worrying.

The arrests were made after a long investigation, which began in November 2023 when authorities received a report of “unsafe” practices at the daycare.
The police said that none of the kids needed medical attention.
